Special Order Cards - Birthday

I had a request of a very fancy birthday card this past week.  My directions were that this needed to be very special.  No colors, nothing else in the way of directions - off I went!

Luckily, Stampin' Up has some very fancy, frilly things out in the catalogs now (and I use an older birthday stamp as well).

Here it is again!  Another Butterfly in Blue!  I couldn't resist!

I wanted to add some Navy twine to this piece, but couldn't find it in my craft room.

More of the Butterflies in Blue

 I LOVE these so much!
This is the second set I've made.
I found a very easy way to get the score lines PERFECT every time.
Cut the DSP to 5 1/4" by 4".  On the 4" side, cut in just 2 inches.  On your scoring board, take a Sharpie and draw a line all the way down the 6 inch line.  (You'll thank me for this.)
Take the point of the top (long edge) and place it on your scoring board on the 6 inch line.  The cut slit you place should either be on your right (or left as the case may be).  Score on your Sharpie line ONLY from the opposite corner up to the very edge of your cut line.  Don't use heavy pressure on DSP - you might cut through.  Use a light touch to score.
Do this on the other side as well.  Fold on the score lines, and your DSP paper should look like a shirt collar!
I've been using glue dots to tack the edges down so they're not flapping all over the place.

Another idea.... other DSP.  I could recycle this idea for a LOT of things!  LOVE IT!!

See the previous post for directions on how to stamp the butterflies.  Like I said, practice makes progress.  There I had one butterfly that was a little off.  These all turned out GREAT!

Butterflies in Blue

I first saw these cards as a set on Pinterest, so here I am CASEing cards again....  I knew the shirt technique, and had all the supplies.

Everything here is Night of Navy and White.
The butterflies are stamped on Whisper White in Night of Navy.  Stamp the first image, the center piece with the spots full strength.  Stamp the outside edges of the butterfly stamping off 1x.  (This technique gives a lighter image. Stamp the solid butterfly image stamping off 2x.
Yes, the lining up of the images takes a little practice, but only a LITTLE.  After some practice, you'll get them straight in no-time!  The above image you'll notice is a little 'off'... but I decided to use it anyway.  In nature, not all things are perfect!
The butterflies are mounted with cut pieces of dimensionals, and the rhinestones are added last.

Contact me for more information if you'd like to make some cards like this.  If you're in my club, we'll be making these very soon!
