Christmas in July - July 9, 2018

Here's another card I saw on either Facebook or Pinterest.   As you've probably seen, this technique is called an Eclipse Card.  Don't ask me where it got the name - I really don't know.

 This card is by no means perfect, and I'm going to make more of these.  As of today, there is only 1 so far.  I made some mistakes in stamping - so I'm going to clean those up and keep this one as a sample.

Up to today, July 9th, I've already got 40 Christmas Cards made and ready to go!  After they get their picture taken, I sign them from my husband and me.  They then get place in envelopes and sealed.  All I have to do when it's time is to add addresses and return addresses.  It all adds up to no stress.

This Happy Birthday comes from the Butterfly Basics, and flowers from the Wood Words stamp sets.

 I've really enjoyed making these simple, but stunning cards.  Make your color choices, and use the tips Zandra will give you and options are limitless!

BOO!

HOW CUTE is this!  (If I do say so myself...) 

 I've been playing with ideas of the Eclipse technique and this one was just TOO cute!

A few things I've learned... use Washi Tape to position the dies as you cut the pieces.  Keep ALL the pieces!  You'll need the negative pieces as well.  Cut 3 or 4 of each letter in black to help the letters stand out. 

I had a lot of fun with the potions bottles!  They're small but super cute in all the colors.  So many possibilities for spooky potions!
The ink colors I used from left to right are:  Lemon Lime Twist, Lovely Lilac (ret.) Bermuda Bay (of course!) Emerald Envy, Dapper Denim, Sweet Sugarplum.

Happy Fall, Y'all!

Here's another card using the Eclipse Technique.

I'm surprised I use this stamp set as much as I do.  Painted Harvest has become a fast favorite.  After playing with this a bit (any four letter word will do for an A2 card) I wanted to test this one.

Definitely stamp your images first.  I used Daffodil Delight and Cajun Craze for the flowers.  Early Espresso stamped off gives the flower centers.  I have thoughts of adding sentiments to these as well... but don't have a y'all stamp!  This also needs some green but that will be next time.

One thing I added as a tip from another demonstrator is to layer black cardstock behind the cut letters.  Each letter has 3 layers of black cardstock behind it.  From my first tries at this technique, the black layering really helped the letters stand out.

Husband's Birthday Cards

A month late!  It's been a crazy beginning to the school year.  CRAZY!  Things are settling a bit and I have some time to get caught up.  WHEW!

This technique is called an Eclipse Card.  I'm not sure if this name stuck because of the big eclipse we had back on August 21st, or some other reason... but this is the name of the technique.

 I used the Wood Texture papers, and cut the 57 with my large number dies... and popped them back into place with dimensionals.

 This side view you can see the 57 much more clearly.

Since our tradition is 2 birthday/holiday cards I also made this one below using the Happy Birthday die I love so much!  It's quite tricky getting all the pieces back where they belong, but it is possible with some perseverance!

I like this one better.  You can see the Happy Birthday much clearer than the 57 in the first card.
