Hello and a Sad Goodbye

I never saw much done with this stamp set when it was available in the 2018-2019 Idea Book & Catalog.  It is retiring as of June 4, 2019. 

 I loved it the moment I saw it though I think many didn't understand - and didn't want to work with it.  It really was fussy.  I like fussy.  I like minutiae - very much.

I set up my Stamparatus with a template to place the pre-cut stitched ovals.  I then used 4 different colors of inks to produce the hello. 

I used this stamp set as a demo to show the Stamparatus at one of our events - I just love this stamp set so much!  I'm sorry it didn't get as much attention as I felt it deserved.

Christmas Lights!

Oh!  I LOVE Christmas tree lights!  I miss the old bulbs from my childhood that used to make noise when they were lit on the tree.  I used to lie on the sofa in the back living room with Christmas music on the stereo, reading with only the light of the tree in the room.  I miss that so much.

 This first card is pretty simple and clean.  I stamped the light string just 3 times, colored the lights with markers, and added Wink of Stella to make them sparkle.  The stamp and die cut are popped with dimensionals, and the greeting is stamped in Gorgeous Grape. 

Layering up this card was lots of fun!
I cut the sentiment, and made a scalloped backing for it as well as two banners to place behind it.
I also added many more strings of lights!  So much fun!

 On the inside I stamped just 3 for a greeting continued from the card front.  Lots of Wink of Stella for sparkle!

Christmas in July - July 23, 2018

 I'm featuring two greens on this card because ivy greens are much darker and shinier than evergreen needles. 
The stamp set is still a favorite of mine called Watercolor Winter.  I've made many cards from it over the years.  This is an updated version with new dies and a new technique.

 I used the Stitched Die to cut out a piece from the base and used my Stamparatus to stamp all of the holly and berries pieces.  I used the Shaded Spruce and Cherry Cobbler markers to color then stamp the holly pieces.

 The evergreen needles were stamped in Garden Green randomly to cover the background.  I cut a piece of real red from the layering dies to frame the holly and berries.

The new stamp set Around the Corner is featured on the inside of the card. 

This set of six cards is very special!  There are now 100 cards for July so far!  We'll have to see how many I end up with by the 31st.

Christmas in July - July 19, 2018

Here's another example of a card with a white base.  You won't see many of these from me.  Please enjoy.
This card has many details so I have a close-up below.

 I was inspired by a version of this card and made it my own by making some changes.  Lots of changes, actually.

The Eskimo features one of the new watercolor pencils, Balmy Blue.  I used both Pacific Point and Balmy Blue to get shadows and gradients in the Eskimo's snow suit.  I'm sorry you can't see it, but all the white on his little suit is covered in Wink of Stella for lots of sparkle.

I'm going to leave you with a tip today.  I love watercoloring - crayons, pencils, watercolor paints... all of them.  After working between aquapainters and blender pens with watercolor pencils, I've decided it's a better look using the aquapainters.
TIP:  When using watercolor pencils, color in the entire area and use your aquapainter to smooth the color and give a seamless look.
